+21 YearsClinical Psychologist
I am an experienced, compassionate senior clinical psychologist with a PhD in Social and Personality Psychology, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also a researcher and educator with over two decades of experience in frontline clinical practice, academic achievement, and applied mental health research.
My formal journey in psychology began during secondary school and continued through post-secondary education. Each academic year deepened my understanding of the human mind and behavior, shaping both my professional expertise and personal growth.
Until November 2025, my most recent position in Pakistan was as Principal Clinical Psychologist at Mayo Hospital Lahore, the largest public hospital in the country. I am also the first professional in South Asia to culturally adapt Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for use in Pakistan. With a population exceeding 2.1 billion, South Asia is more than two and a half times larger than Europe. Given this vast and diverse demographic, I am confident that this work holds substantial potential for scalable, culturally relevant mental health innovation. This enables psychological science to be more representative of the global human population, facilitating a more inclusive and accurate body of knowledge while forestalling the imposition of ethnocentric biases in research and practice.
Over the past 21 years, I have had the privilege of working closely with numerous individuals experiencing mental distress from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, both in private practice and within public healthcare settings. I am committed to providing compassionate care and support to those in need. My approach is grounded in empathy, understanding, and evidence-based practices that promote healing and growth.
